The 49ers re-signed linebacker Desmond Bishop to a one-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday.
"Congratulations on going back to 49ers," tweeted Bishop's agent, Doug Hendrickson. "Great opportunity. Let's get it!!"
Bishop, 30, played in two games for the 49ers last season and recorded two tackles.
The eight-year NFL veteran has 226 tackles, nine sacks, one interception, 10 passes defended, seven forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 75 games -- 27 starts.
Selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Bishop's most productive NFL seasons came in 2010 and 2011 when he started 25 games and tallied 165 tackles, eight sacks, 10 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and an interception returned for a touchdown.
