DENVER -- On the eve of the Manual High Thunderbolts' season-opener, some of the players got autographs and posed for pictures with members of the 49ers, including quarterback Colin Kaepernick and coach Jim Tomsula.
The 49ers had a brief walk-through practice on Friday at the school, which is located less than two miles from the team's downtown hotel. Afterward, the prep athletes had a chance to get up close to the 49ers, as pictured on the Denver Public Schools' Twitter account.
The 49ers often go through their day-before-game preparation at walk-through speed at alternative sites, such as high schools or hotel ballrooms. When the 49ers practiced in Youngstown, Ohio, in 2011 and '12, then-coach Jim Harbaugh famously had his players go through their assignments behind the team hotel on a concrete parking lot.
The 49ers play the Denver Broncos on Saturday night in third exhibition game for both teams.
The 49ers arrived in Colorado on Tuesday and participated in joint practices Wednesday and Thursday with the Broncos at their facility in Englewood.
Manual opens the season Saturday afternoon against KIPP Denver Collegiate High School.
