The 49ers are holding tryouts this weekend for 10 players during the team’s rookie minicamp in Santa Clara.
The team did not add a rookie cornerback in the draft nor did they sign an undrafted rookie. But the 49ers invited four cornerbacks to take part in a tryout over the weekend.
The cornerbacks are Dasheon Frierson (San Jose State), Charles Garrett (Nevada), Randy Harvey (Florida International) and Mylan Hicks (Michigan State).
Strong safety Mike Lowe of Cal is also taking part in the camp on a tryout basis.
Last year, two players the 49ers invited for tryouts during the rookie camp -- outside linebacker Chase Thomas and cornerback Cameron Fuller -- actually saw time on the team's 53-man roster
The 49ers did not bring in a quarterback to ease the workload of former South Carolina quarterback Dylan Thompson, who the 49ers signed as an undrafted rookie. Thompson is the only quarterback on the 49ers’ roster eligible to take part in the offseason program.
