SANTA CLARA –- Safety Eric Reid was ruled out of Sunday’s season finale against the Arizona Cardinals due to a concussion, the team announced Friday afternoon.
Veteran Craig Dahl will start for Reid, who sustained his third concussion in two NFL seasons last week against the San Diego Chargers. Reid started the first 34 games (regular season and playoffs) of his 49ers career.
Also, Joe Looney will start at right guard for Alex Boone, who was placed on injured reserve. Looney will make a start at the third different position on the offensive line after starting games earlier this season at left guard and center.

Boone sustained meniscus cartilage in his knee last week and will undergo a procedure. He should be available for the team’s offseason program.
Running back Carlos Hyde (ankle) and wide receiver Stevie Johnson (knee) will not be available for Sunday's game, either.
Rookie wide receiver Bruce Ellington is questionable due to a hamstring strain. Trindon Holliday, whom the 49ers signed on Friday, expects to be in uniform to handle the return chores. Holliday is signed for next season, so he will have an opportunity to participate in the team’s offseason program and earn a roster spot in 2015.
Cornerback Perrish Cox did not practice this week due to a shoulder sprain. He is listed as questionable, which is why the 49ers promoted another cornerback, Cameron Fuller, from the practice squad.
