SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers will hold joint practices with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos before their first two exhibition games, coach Chip Kelly said Tuesday.
Two days prior to their Aug. 14 exhibition-season opening game at Levi Stadium, the 49ers will hold a joint practice with Bill O'Brien's Texans.
The next week, the 49ers will hold two joint practices at the Broncos' facility before their Aug. 20 game against Gary Kubiak's team, Kelly confirmed.
"I think it's just a chance to see other guys," Kelly said. "It's a chance to see different schemes. I've always been a big fan of it. As long as the coaches agreed to a format as far as what's going on, you can get a lot of positives out of it."
Kelly said he has already worked out the practice plans with O'Brien and Kubiak.
"We're good to go," Kelly said.
During his three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelly's teams practiced with the New England Patriots twice and with the Baltimore Ravens last year.
