SANTA CLARA -- The Warriors have plenty of support in the 49ers locker room, but there are a couple of players who are torn over the NBA Finals with multiple horses in the race.
Phil Dawson kicked for the Cleveland Browns for 14 seasons and Jarryd Hayne has Australian compatriots on both teams.
“I’ve got to be careful with this one,” Dawson said. “I will say it’s fantastic for the city of Cleveland. It’s an electric environment and I’m going to sit back and enjoy it.”
Dawson was in attendance when the Spurs completed their 4-0 sweep of the Cavaliers in 2007.
For Hayne -- an Aussie trying to make his name in America -- he’s happy to see Australians Andrew Bogut and Matthew Dellavedova succeeding on the highest level. But it makes drawing a rooting interest a difficult task.
“It’s tough,” Hayne said. “Just watching them both do well. Obviously, to see Delly do so well against (Stephen) Curry the other day was massive -- Curry being one of the best ever, obviously the MVP. To see him work his backside off and for the way they get behind him.
“It’s a great series and, being in San Francisco, we’re watching very closely.”
Hayne's 49ers teammates are watching closely, too, and many have taken to social media to show their support:
