SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers signed undrafted rookie wide receiver Nigel King, whom the Miami Dolphins waived last week, the club announced on Wednesday.
King was signed to take the roster spot that opened with the 49ers released veteran cornerback Chris Cook.

Cook did not practice Tuesday due to a sore knee. The 49ers believed he did not give them anything that they don’t already have with their crop of young cornerbacks, a source told CSNBayArea.com.
King (6 foot 2, 214 pounds) spent one season at Kansas after transferring from Maryland. King caught 30 passes for 537 yards and one touchdown. He turned pro after his junior season and went undrafted. In two years at Maryland, he caught 42 passes for 575 yards and five touchdowns.
