SANTA CLARA – Running back Reggie Bush did not practice on Wednesday, but he remains hopeful he will be in uniform Sunday to face the Arizona Cardinals.
“That’s the plan,” Bush said prior to practice.
Bush sustained a calf strain in the first half of the 49ers’ season opener against the Minnesota Vikings. He did not make the trip to Pittsburgh. He remained in the Bay Area to rehabilitate.
“There’s nothing I could’ve done there, other than go out and get myself injured again,” Bush said.
“But it’s making strides. It’s a day-to-day thing right now. I’m just happy it wasn’t something more serious than it felt like when it first happened. Every day I’m just trying to make bigger and bigger strides so I can get on the field on Sunday.”
Running back Carlos Hyde, who is nursing a quadricep bruise, was a full participant in practice.
Linebacker NaVorro Bowman was given a day of rest from practice. He is expected to be back on teh practice field on Thursday.
Tight end Vance McDonald (left knee) worked with the strength and conditioning staff on a side field as practice began. McDonald and wide receiver Bruce Ellington (ankle) took part in limited practice.
