NaVorro Bowman went to social media on Monday to welcome Kevin Durant to the Bay Area.
Durant announced he is leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder to sign with the Warriors as a free agent.
The 49ers’ All-Pro linebacker and Durant have a friendship that dates back to when they were 8 years old and basketball teammates in Maryland.
"We played on the same middle school basketball team," Durant said of Bowman during NBA All-Star weekend in 2013. “And, surprisingly, he was the best player on the team. I was kind of like his sidekick. I really thought he was going to the NBA, but he didn't grow."
Bowman, who regularly attends Warriors games, disclosed that he will never feel torn when Golden State plays Oklahoma City.
“Every time the Warriors and Thunder played Warriors fans got UPSET because I would cheer for the Thunder & my longtime friend,” Bowman wrote on Instagram. “Now there's no more issues.”
