The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday they have activated defensive tackle Quinton Dial from the team’s Reserve/Non-Football Injury List.
The team had an unfilled roster spot after waiving wide receiver Chris Harper on Thursday, and head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio indicated the spot would likely be used for the debut of one of the 49ers rookie linemen. Harper was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers.

A 23-year-old native of Pinson, AL, Dial initially began his collegiate career at East Mississippi Community College before transferring to the University of Alabama following his sophomore season. He played in 25 games during his two years with the Crimson Tide, registering 45 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss.
